Program Overview

The course in Arabic studies provides a scientifically sound knowledge of the language, history and culture of the Arabic region from the pre-Islamic period to the present. The focus is on thorough training in modern standard Arabic as well as in classical Arabic, the language of the Koran. In addition to active command of the language, you will be able to read and interpret both modern and classic Arabic texts independently. This also includes the acquisition of basic linguistic knowledge. Furthermore, you will acquire a broad background knowledge of religious and cultural history, regional studies as well as historical and contemporary areas.
