Program Overview

Geography is both a natural science and a social science-oriented spatial science that examines the geo-ecosphere on the one hand and society with its demands on space on the other. Physical geography determines the influence of natural geofactors on human living space, while human geography analyzes human activities, the resulting spatial structures and the processes that control them. The special position of the subject between the natural and social sciences and the large number of objects to be examined and processes from the area of contact between people and the environment require close contact with numerous related disciplines. In the process, geography has developed from a systematically descriptive to a causal-analytical science.
