The MEng / BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering & Design is a five-year integrated Master's programme designed to equip you with both cutting-edge technical skills and practical expertise in mechanical engineering design, modelling, and management. This programme is tailored to meet the demands of the Greek and European job market, ensuring you graduate as a flexible, highly competitive, and well-rounded professional ready to tackle real-world engineering challenges.


Curriculum Structure

Year 1-2: Foundational Technical Competency

During your first two years, you'll build a solid academic foundation across the three core mechanical engineering fields: Energy, Construction, and Industrial Management. You'll gain hands-on experience in our specialized labs—Metrology, CAD Design & Prototyping, Metal Processing, Technology & Strength of Materials, and Fluid Engineering—while mastering industry-standard software including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MATLAB, and ANSYS. This phase balances theoretical knowledge with practical demonstrations and real workshop experience, including manufacturing processes like turning, milling, and sheet metal forming.

Year 3: Specialization and Advanced Design

As you progress, your focus shifts toward advanced mechanical applications through modules like Advanced Mechanical Design and Manufacturing Engineering. You'll deepen your expertise in contemporary engineering challenges, learning to design and improve high-performance systems while developing your problem-solving approach through case studies and prototype design projects.

Year 4: Strategic and Professional Development

In your fourth year, you'll take CPD and Strategic Management, which develops your entrepreneurial capabilities and prepares you for managerial positions in the technical sector. You'll also have the option to specialize further through modules like Heating, Cooling and Air Conditioning, depending on your career interests.

Year 5: Master's-Level Research and Innovation

Your final year culminates in an Independent Scholarship thesis where you work at a high research level under experienced academic supervision. This is your opportunity to tackle realistic industry problems, conduct original research, and potentially publish your work in international conferences or partner with collaborating companies on real design and construction projects.

Learning Outcomes

Professional Alignment (Accreditation)

This programme operates through a collaborative agreement with the University of Derby and is recognized in both the UK and Greece. You have the option to exit after four years with a BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering & Design and achieve Incorporated Engineer professional status, or continue to earn your Master's qualification.
