"The main goal of the training program of the major is to train teachers with up-to-date knowledge of linguistics, literature, culture, style and contemporary history, pedagogy, psychology, as well as professional methodology, art analysis skills, and to provide students with marketable theoretical and practical knowledge and skill development. In addition, in accordance with the university's mission statement, we also try to meet the expectations of religious, including Reformed, education (with our courses on church knowledge and the optional courses ""Biblical motifs in literature"" and ""Classics of Protestant literature""). Linguistics (descriptive Hungarian linguistics, linguistic history, semantics, stylistics, textual studies, lexicography, language policy, applied linguistics), literary (old, classical, modern and contemporary Hungarian literature, world literature, literary theory, genre history), and courses dealing with the relationship between literature and related arts. Teacher training aims to achieve the goals of modern, communicative Hungarian language and literature education. Pedagogical-psychological and professional methodology courses, as well as group school practice and connected school practice, promote the acquisition of knowledge and skills essential for the teaching profession."
