Curriculum structure

  • Year 1: You will gain strong programming, computer systems, network fundamentals, and cloud fundamentals knowledge along with relevant professional development modules. The first year shared is designed to enable you to discover your strengths and decide whether to specialize in cloud computing, software development, IT management, or AI/ML
  • Year 2: You’ll begin in-depth study of cloud architecture, operating systems, and system automation, while also learning IT project management, database systems, and cybersecurity essentials—courses like Cloud Foundations, Systems Analysis, and Database Design will feature heavily.
  • Year 3: The focus shifts to advanced cloud configurations and IT leadership. You’ll dive into modules such as Cloud SysOps, Cloud Architecture, and IT Service Management, and you’ll also complete a six‑month industry placement in Semester 2 to gain real-world experience
  • Year 4: You learn applied Machine Learning & Social Media Analytics – having established your Year 3 cloud and IT foundations, Enterprise-level software development projects – across both semesters to enhance your practical and leadership skills and theory and architecture – with modules that include more advanced computational ideas and large-scale system design.

The main areas of emphasis are cloud architecture, IT service and project management, cybersecurity, and strategic digital leadership.

Learning objectives: acquire expertise in configuring, automating, protecting, and managing cloud/IT infrastructures as well as leadership and project management skills.

  • Group-based programme projects throughout the programme, e.g. the Year 2 Systems Analysis, Project and Cyber Security modules and Year 4 Cloud Stream project
  • On-campus technology facilities: specialist computing laboratories, development software environments, and on-campus facilities to access TU Dublin's new Grangegorman and Tallaght campuses with state-of-the-art IT infrastructure
