Program Overview

The Tourism Management program at NHL Stenden is a four-year, full-time bachelor's degree that centers on sustainable and "all-inclusive" destination management . Curriculum Structure

You will learn to forecast future trends, develop professional communication skills like storytelling, and delve into subjects such as Research, Tourism Economics, and Intercultural Communication .

In your second year, you shift focus to the business and management side of tourism by developing sustainable tourism products and marketing strategies for real clients . You will explore destination management and organizational challenges while studying Financial Management, Scenario Planning, HRM and Strategy, and a second foreign language, culminating in a study trip to an international destination .

Your third year is dedicated to strategic leadership and personal specialization, where you will tackle organizational challenges and take on the role of a change manager . The highlight is the second semester, where you can choose from over 100 minors, including options like Heritage Experience Management or Outdoor Leadership and Adventure Tourism, often at NHL Stenden's international locations in South Africa, Bali, or Thailand .

The final year is the culmination of your studies, where you will complete a 10-month internship and a graduation project, applying all your knowledge to solve a real industry problem . This capstone experience allows you to showcase your academic and professional capabilities, analyzing complex issues and presenting feasible, sustainable solutions to prepare for your career .
