At History at the VU you learn to do independent research from a chosen angle. In order to prepare you well for this, in the first year we first make a broad historical knowledge base: from Nero to Napoleon, from the Middle Ages to the Islamic State. In the following years you can start with historical themes, sources and events that you find interesting. You learn to understand the past, make new connections and create insight into present and past. This is how you stand in the middle of society,

A diploma equivalent to the Dutch pre-university VWO diploma, Transcript(s) of records, Curriculum Vitae, IELTS: 6.5, TOEFL internet-based test: 92, Cambridge Advanced English (CAE): grade A, B or C/ minimum score of 176, Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): grade A, B or C/ minimum score of 176, State Examination Dutch as a second language, programme II (NT2-II), VU-NT2 Department, CNaVT Certificate.
