Psychology BSc

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Tilburg University

Program Overview

The Psychology BSc at Tilburg University is a flexible, three-year program that gives you a solid foundation in how people think, feel, and behave—preparing you for careers across mental health, organizational leadership, education, and community services. You'll design your own study path by choosing from nine specialized majors in your second year and a minor in your third, combining real research experience with classroom learning so you're not just studying psychology, you're doing it.

Curriculum Structure

First Year: Building Your Foundation

Your first year establishes a comprehensive grounding across all major areas of psychology. You'll take foundational courses like Brain and Behavior, where you'll explore how the brain develops and functions, and Personality Psychology, examining why people differ from each other and how they respond differently to stress and illness. You'll also complete core courses including Social Psychology, Introduction to Research Methodology, and Philosophy of Mind, along with academic skills training that prepares you for the specialized work ahead.

Second Year: Choosing Your Specialization

Once you've got the basics down, you'll select one of nine majors that become the core of your program. Beyond your chosen specialization, you'll take statistics courses and four specialization courses directly related to your major, develop professional skills specific to your field, and conduct supervised research in small groups, giving you hands-on experience designing and executing real psychological studies.

Third Year: Mastery and Independence

Your final year wraps up your major with a professional practice course while you choose a minor and two electives tailored to your interests. You'll conclude the program with a Bachelor's thesis related to your major, synthesizing everything you've learned into original research. You also have the option to study abroad for six months in the spring semester without any delay to your graduation.
