4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program
ArtEZ University of the ArtsThe Bachelor’s in Design Art Technology at ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem is a great fit for creative students who are curious about how art, design and technology can work together. During the four-year programme, you will experiment with creative technology, coding, sound, digital media and hands-on making while developing your own creative style and learning how technology can be used to create meaningful and original work.
Curriculum Structure
Year 1 – Building the Basics: The first year helps you explore your interests and develop a strong foundation in both creative and technical skills. You will work with subjects such as Methodology, Fundamentals, Artistic Research and Poetic Systems, while practical workshops and collaborative projects encourage you to experiment and discover how you want to work.
Year 2 – Exploring New Possibilities: In the second year, you start working on more challenging projects and become more confident in using technology as part of your creative process. Subjects such as Sound Design, Media Theory, Inventing Instruments, Creative Technology and Coding Studio give you opportunities to explore sound, coding, digital tools and experimental technologies in imaginative ways.
Year 3 – Developing Your Own Direction: The third year is about becoming more independent and developing a clearer creative identity. Through Digital Art, Engineering Studio and Solidarity, along with a field research project involving an external partner, you will explore how art and technology can come together to address ideas, questions and real-world challenges.
Year 4 – Preparing for Professional Practice: The final year gives you a chance to experience the professional world through a three-month internship with an artist or studio, either in the Netherlands or abroad. You then focus on your own research project, develop an essay around its theoretical ideas and spend the final part of the year creating and presenting your graduation project.
Study Abroad / Industrial Placement: A separate full-year Study Abroad or Industrial Placement Year is not part of the standard programme structure, but students complete a three-month internship during the final year, which can be undertaken in the Netherlands or abroad.

Learning Outcomes

Professional Alignment (Accreditation)
The programme leads to a Bachelor of Design degree and graduates can use the title Bachelor of Arts (BA). It prepares you for opportunities in creative technology studios, design agencies, digital art, interactive installations, information design, wearables, emerging technologies and other creative fields where art and technology overlap.

You hold a Dutch HAVO, VWO or MBO 4 diploma, or an equivalent international diploma.
You meet the language requirements: you must be able to understand, speak, read, and write English at a high enough level to follow your classes. You can meet these requirements if you have a valid language certificate. There are also other ways to meet the requirements: for example, if you have completed a prior programme taught in English, or if you passed English as an exam subject as part of your HAVO or VWO diploma.
You have received an offer of admission (positive result on your entrance examination).
IELTS Academic: at least 5.5 for each section and for the overall band score.
TOEFL iBT: subscores of at least 12 for reading, 13 for listening, 15 for writing and 18 for speaking, and a total score of 70 or higher. We do not accept the Home Edition.
According to ArtEZ University's admissions information, applicants are not charged an application fee when applying for a programme.
