If you want to become a Midwife and provide care to women during pregnancy, labour and birth, and for up to six weeks following the birth, then this programme is right for you. Wintec works closely with the Waikato District Health Board and other DHBs in supporting this programme.
A minimum of 18 credits at NCEA Level 3 or higher in Biology or Chemistry; and a minimum of 16 credits at NCEA Level 3 or higher in an English language-rich subject (such as English, History, Art History, Classics, Geography, Economics or Media Studies); and a minimum of 16 credits at NCEA Level 3 or higher in one additional approved subject (10 credits at NCEA Level 2 or above made up of 5 credits each in reading and writing); and Numeracy (10 credits at NCEA Level 1 or above); or Equivalent, Registered nurses seeking entry into the programme on the basis of their nursing qualification or nursing practice experience must hold registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand as a Registered Comprehensive Nurse, or a Registered General and Obstetric Nurse and must provide a Certificate of Good Standing from the Nursing Council of New Zealand, IELTS (Academic) band score of 7.0.
