On Campus
The Bachelor of Arts in Journalism Program of the University of Santo Tomas UST seeks to develop competent and responsible journalists who are capable of reporting and analyzing the news across multiple platforms: print, broadcast, and online. The four-year program is offered within a liberal arts environment, providing students the necessary knowledge, context, and critical-thinking skills to be able to gather, examine, and interpret the facts in a digital and increasingly networked world. There is heavy emphasis on ethical journalism practice and a commitment to truth, in light of the Church's teachings on Social Communication. The faculty is a healthy mix of academics and industry practitioners who are able to teach real-world journalism practice in the classroom and on the field. UST is a pioneer in journalism education in Southeast Asia, and has been sending its graduates to newsrooms in the Philippines and across the region since the degree program began in 1932.
