Bachelor in Management - Specialization in International Business Management

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Gdansk University of Technology

Program Overview

The Bachelor in Management is a three-year, English-taught degree designed for students who want to build an international career in business, management, marketing, finance, or project leadership. It is especially suitable for students who enjoy solving business problems, working with people from different cultures, and understanding how organisations respond to digital transformation, sustainability, competition, and changing customer expectations.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1 – Building a Strong Business Foundation

During the first year, students begin developing a broad understanding of how businesses and economies operate. The programme introduces key areas such as economics, management, finance, law, and marketing, helping students understand how organisations make decisions, manage resources, operate within legal frameworks, and respond to market conditions.

Students also begin working in an English-speaking and multicultural academic environment. This helps them strengthen their professional communication, teamwork, analytical thinking, and confidence in discussing business ideas with students from different backgrounds.

Year 2 – Applying Management Knowledge

In the second year, the programme moves beyond introductory business concepts and places greater emphasis on practical managerial decision-making. Students analyse case studies, work on team projects, solve managerial problems, and explore current business challenges such as digital transformation, sustainable development, international teamwork, and remote or hybrid working.

At this stage, students begin connecting management theory with real organisational situations. They learn how to assess problems, compare possible solutions, organise group work, communicate recommendations, and approach business decisions from financial, operational, marketing, and human perspectives.

Year 3 – Choosing a Specialisation and Completing a Practical Project

In the final year, students can shape the degree around their interests by choosing between Project Management and Digital Business Management and Marketing, subject to sufficient student enrolment.

Students choosing Project Management study areas such as Project Management Methods and Tools, Innovative Project Management, Project Costing and Budgeting, and Project Risk Management. These subjects prepare them to define project objectives, organise teams, control budgets, monitor progress, and manage uncertainty.

Students choosing Digital Business Management and Marketing explore subjects such as Digital Marketing, Customer Experience in Services, Digital Business, and E-commerce. This route develops skills in online business strategy, digital customer relationships, consumer behaviour, customer-experience design, and online brand development.

Instead of completing only a traditional academic bachelor’s thesis, students undertake a practical diploma project, often in international teams and in cooperation with the business environment. This gives them the opportunity to apply what they have learned to a real organisational challenge and graduate with practical evidence of their ability to analyse, plan, collaborate, and recommend solutions.

Focus areas: International management, economics, finance, marketing, business law, project management, digital business, e-commerce, customer experience, leadership, sustainability, intercultural communication, innovation, and organisational problem-solving.

Learning outcomes: Graduates develop the ability to analyse managerial problems, interpret business information, work effectively in multicultural teams, communicate professionally in English, manage projects, evaluate risks, think critically, and design practical solutions suited to different organisational contexts.

Professional alignment: The programme is delivered by the Faculty of Management and Economics, which works closely with employers and business practitioners to keep its teaching connected to labour-market needs. The faculty also holds CEEMAN institutional accreditation and participates in management-education networks and initiatives including PRME, while project-management education at the faculty is connected with the IPMA framework. These are faculty-level quality indicators and should not be presented as a separate professional licence automatically awarded to every graduate.

Reputation: Gdańsk University of Technology is included in the 801–850 band of the QS World University Rankings. The university also has an extensive international network, with more than 760 agreements involving over 450 research and academic institutions worldwide.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

The Bachelor in Management is designed to help students learn business by actively working through business situations rather than relying only on lectures and written theory. From the beginning of the programme, students participate in English-taught classes, multicultural group work, case analysis, team assignments, and practical problem-solving exercises.

Students learn how to examine a managerial challenge, identify the interests of different stakeholders, evaluate financial and organisational information, and present a realistic recommendation. The programme also exposes students to modern management themes, including digital transformation, sustainable business, online customer relationships, international collaboration, and managing teams in remote or hybrid environments.

The main practical-learning opportunities include:

  • International team projects: Students work in diverse groups, developing experience in communication, task allocation, negotiation, conflict management, and intercultural collaboration.
  • Business case studies: Classes use managerial cases to help students understand how organisations respond to competition, financial limitations, customer expectations, operational problems, and changing market conditions.
  • Real managerial problem-solving: Students are expected to evaluate realistic organisational situations and propose solutions rather than simply memorising management theories.
  • Practical diploma project: In place of a purely traditional thesis, students complete a practical final project that may be undertaken with businesses and international student teams.
  • Project-management tools: Students specialising in Project Management learn methods for planning projects, budgeting, risk assessment, cost control, team coordination, and implementation.
  • Digital business applications: Students following the Digital Business Management and Marketing pathway explore e-commerce, digital marketing, customer-experience design, consumer behaviour, and online brand strategy.
  • Business-practitioner involvement: The Faculty of Management and Economics states that selected classes are taught by experts and practitioners from industry, helping students understand current employer expectations.
  • Employer-connected activities: Faculty initiatives have included interactive business sessions with organisations such as ManpowerGroup, as well as planned consulting and career-development activities involving Dynatrace and Amazon.
  • Internships and apprenticeships: Students can access the faculty’s dedicated apprenticeship and internship support area, which connects academic learning with professional experience.
  • Exchange opportunities: Students may apply for international mobility through programmes such as Erasmus+, subject to the applicable eligibility and selection rules.
  • Chinese-language opportunity: The programme indicates that students have an opportunity to study Chinese, which can be valuable for those interested in international business and Asian markets.
  • Modern learning spaces: Teaching takes place on campus in modern, well-equipped classrooms designed to support project work, presentations, collaboration, and technology-assisted learning.
  • Digital learning environment: Students can use the university’s e-learning systems, Moja PG student portal, IT support services, and digital academic resources.
  • Gdańsk Tech Library: Students have access to the university library and its academic collections, databases, study spaces, and research-support resources.
  • International student support: The university’s Welcome Office and International Relations Office support international students with academic, administrative, and integration-related matters.

Progression & Future Opportunities

Graduates leave the programme with a combination of business knowledge, international teamwork experience, English-language communication skills, and practical exposure to managerial problem-solving. This prepares them for entry-level and early-career positions in international companies, service organisations, technology businesses, financial institutions, public bodies, non-governmental organisations, and growing digital enterprises.

Typical career directions include business analyst, project coordinator, digital marketing specialist, management consultant, operations specialist, customer-experience specialist, junior project manager, and business-development executive:

  • Career and Alumni Office: Students can use university career services for employability support, employer events, professional-development activities, career planning, and access to opportunities.
  • Faculty links with employers: The Faculty of Management and Economics works with the business community so that programmes reflect labour-market needs and students gain contact with practitioners.
  • Industry-supported teaching: Selected courses and workshops may involve experts from companies, allowing students to learn directly from professionals working in business, recruitment, consulting, technology, and management.
  • Business partnerships: Recent faculty initiatives have connected students with organisations including ManpowerGroup, Dynatrace, and Amazon through workshops, consulting activities, and career-development sessions.
  • International career preparation: Because the degree is taught in English and includes multicultural group work, students gain experience that can support applications to international organisations and cross-border teams.
  • Project-management pathway: Graduates who choose Project Management may progress towards roles involving project coordination, project planning, budgeting, risk management, operations, and implementation.
  • Digital-business pathway: Graduates who choose Digital Business Management and Marketing may pursue careers related to digital marketing, e-commerce, customer experience, online brand development, sales, product support, and digital transformation.
  • Wide sector relevance: The university identifies potential employment across manufacturing, services, international corporations, trading companies, financial institutions, banking, public organisations, and non-governmental organisations.
  • Graduation outcome: Students receive a Bachelor degree—licencjat—after completing 180 ECTS over six semesters.
  • Employment statistics and salary: The official programme page does not publish a course-specific graduate employment rate, average salary, or guaranteed placement figure. These should therefore not be estimated or presented as official programme outcomes.
  • Accreditation value: The faculty’s CEEMAN accreditation and participation in international management-education networks indicate an institutional focus on internationalisation, business relevance, educational quality, and employer engagement. However, graduates should check separately whether a particular professional role requires an additional certification, such as IPMA, PMI, ACCA, or another industry qualification.

Further Academic Progression: After graduating, students can continue to a master’s degree in areas such as Management, International Management, Project Management, Digital Business, Marketing, Finance, Business Analytics, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Supply Chain Management, or Human Resource Management. Depending on their experience and long-term career plans, they may later consider an MBA or specialised professional qualifications in project management, finance, marketing, or business analysis.
