Sustainable Business

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Kozminski University

Program Overview

The Sustainable Business Major within the Bachelor in Management at Kozminski University is designed for ambitious students who want to build successful organisations while creating a positive environmental and social impact. Delivered jointly with ESCP Business School, the program combines core management education with ESG strategy, responsible leadership, sustainable finance, circular business models and the practical management of organisational transformation.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1 – Building a foundation in management and sustainability

Students spend their first year at Kozminski University in Warsaw, where they develop a strong understanding of how businesses operate and how sustainability can be integrated into everyday decision-making. Courses such as Principles of Management, ESG Frameworks in Practice and Principles of Philosophy and Ethics in Business introduce responsible leadership, while Green Economics and Sustainable Competitiveness, Impact and Regenerative Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Business Models show how organisations can remain profitable while responding to environmental and social challenges.

Year 2 – Developing international and analytical business skills

In the second year, students continue at an ESCP Business School campus in Madrid, Turin or Paris, subject to the partner university’s academic, language and organisational requirements. Modules such as Financial Accounting, Marketing and Contract and Business Law in Europe strengthen their commercial knowledge, while Advanced Statistical Methods, AI and Big Data Seminar and Key Scientific and Technological Issues in Business help them understand how data, technology and regulation influence modern sustainable organisations.

Students also participate in a Collective Project and complete an internship, allowing them to apply classroom concepts to a real organisational challenge while building teamwork, research and professional communication skills.

Year 3 – Leading sustainable business transformation

The third year combines further international study at an ESCP campus with a final semester at Kozminski University. Students explore International Economics, Operations Management and Business Information Systems and CSR and Business Ethics, before moving into advanced sustainability-focused subjects such as Business Strategy and Sustainability, Sustainable Financial Management and Change Makers: Climate Leadership.

Through Management Business Games, Basic Negotiation Skills and the Diploma Workshop in Sustainable Business, students bring together their strategic, analytical and leadership capabilities. They also explore specialised areas such as sustainable marketing, responsible luxury management and the development of innovative products.

Focus areas: ESG implementation, sustainable business strategy, ethical leadership, regenerative entrepreneurship, sustainable finance, climate leadership, responsible supply chains, circular business models, environmental management, CSR, sustainable marketing, data-informed decision-making and organisational transformation.

Learning outcomes: Graduates learn to analyse complex sustainability challenges, assess environmental and social impact, design responsible and commercially viable business models, implement ESG strategies, manage sustainable transformation and communicate the value of responsible practices to managers, investors, employees, customers and other stakeholders.

Professional alignment and accreditation: Students graduate with a double degree from Kozminski University and ESCP Business School. Kozminski holds the internationally recognised AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA Triple Crown accreditations, demonstrating that its business education meets rigorous global standards.

Reputation and rankings: Kozminski University is identified by the university as the highest-ranking business school in Central and Eastern Europe in the Financial Times global education rankings and has appeared in those rankings since 2009. It has also remained among Poland’s top three economic higher education institutions for more than ten years and has been ranked the country’s leading non-public higher education institution for over two decades. These are university-level achievements rather than a separate ranking for the Sustainable Business Major.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

Practical learning is built directly into the Sustainable Business curriculum, helping students move beyond theoretical discussions of sustainability and learn how responsible strategies work in real organisations. Across Kozminski University and ESCP Business School, students work with business cases, quantitative research, team projects, simulations and internships while studying in an international environment across multiple European campuses.

Students also benefit from Kozminski’s business-focused academic community, modern campus infrastructure, sustainability researchers and career-development support. The most relevant practical opportunities include:

  • Collective Project: During the ESCP stage of the degree, students work as part of a team on an applied project. ESCP’s collective projects can involve collaboration with startups or other organisations, helping students practise project management, teamwork, research and problem-solving.
  • Internship experience: The curriculum includes an internship during the ESCP stage and a minimum three-week internship connected with the later stages of the degree. Kozminski’s Career and Student Development Office can also assist students in identifying suitable internship opportunities.
  • Business simulations: In Management Business Games, students participate in simulated management situations that require them to make strategic decisions and understand the consequences of different business choices. ESCP also uses online business simulations in which teams compete within a virtual business environment.
  • AI and data-informed learning: The AI and Big Data Seminar, Advanced Statistical Methods, Quantitative Methods and Computer Science courses introduce students to analytical and digital approaches that can be applied when measuring impact, evaluating ESG performance and supporting business decisions.
  • Sustainability research environment: Students study within a university that hosts the RES Centre for Reimagining Sustainability in Management and Finance, bringing together researchers working in sustainability, management and finance.
  • International campus experience: Students begin in Warsaw and continue their studies through the ESCP campus network, with possible study locations including Paris, Madrid, Turin, Berlin and London. This provides direct exposure to different European business cultures, regulatory settings and approaches to sustainability.
  • Multilingual development: The curriculum includes Business English and additional campus languages, helping students communicate and collaborate across international teams and markets.
  • Academic library and digital resources: Kozminski’s physical library holds approximately 64,000 books and 247 journals, while students can also access around 38,000 electronic books and 24,000 online journals through the university’s digital systems.
  • Modern campus facilities: Kozminski’s Warsaw campus consists of five modern buildings covering approximately 16,500 square metres, with academic, technological and accessibility facilities located on one campus.
  • Entrepreneurship support: Students interested in developing responsible startups or sustainable business ideas can engage with the university’s Entrepreneurship Center, which supports innovative ventures through education, research, training and advisory initiatives.
  • Career fairs and workshops: Students can participate in recruitment events, career workshops, mentoring consultations and talent-development programs organised through Kozminski and ESCP. ESCP also organises career fairs where employers recruit students and graduates directly on campus.

The double degree with ESCP can further strengthen the graduate’s international academic and professional profile.
  • Graduate career directions: Officially identified career paths include Sustainability Consultant, CSR Manager, Environmental Manager, Sustainable Supply Chain Manager, Sustainability Analyst, Sustainable Development Policy Advisor, Environmental Communications Manager and Sustainable Business Strategist.
  • Employment statistics and salary figures: Kozminski University does not currently publish program-specific employment rates or graduate salary data for this major. As a newly introduced program, it does not yet have a separate established graduate-outcomes dataset, so no unsupported salary figure should be attached to it.

Further Academic Progression: After completing the bachelor’s degree, graduates can progress to postgraduate study in areas such as Sustainability Management, ESG and Sustainable Management, International Management, Strategic Management, Sustainable Finance, Environmental Economics, Supply Chain Management, Corporate Responsibility or Public Policy. They may pursue a master’s qualification at Kozminski University, ESCP Business School or another recognised international institution, depending on the admissions requirements of their chosen program.
