Program Overview

Obstetrics students gain knowledge in the field of health services for: pregnant women, women in labor and her family, and a newborn baby. Students gain knowledge about: recognizing pregnancy and caring for a woman in the course of a physiological pregnancy and carrying out tests necessary to monitor a physiological pregnancy; conducting physiological delivery and monitoring the fetus with the use of medical equipment; natural birth with incision and sewing of the incised crotch; taking the necessary emergency measures until the doctor arrives, including delivery from the pelvic position and manual extraction of the placenta; taking care of the mother and monitoring the course of the postpartum period; examination and care of newborns; execution of medical orders in the diagnostic process, treatment and rehabilitation; independent provision of preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitation services to a certain extent; prophylaxis of female diseases and obstetric pathologies; detection of abnormal conditions in mother and child during pregnancy, delivery and puerperium.
