The Biology (Licenciatura) course at the Universidade da Madeira (UMA) is held at the University of Madeira campus in Funchal, Madeira Island, Portugal (Autonomous Region of Madeira), specifically at the university’s main campus facilities in Funchal.
Candidates must complete secondary education equivalent to Portuguese 12th grade and meet the minimum application score of 100 points, with selection based on 50% secondary school average and 50% entrance exams in relevant science subjects such as Biology & Geology, Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry, Portuguese, or Mathematics A.
Declaration under oath that the candidate does not have Portuguese nationality nor is covered by the provisions of numbers 2 and 3 of article 3 of Decree-Law no. 36/2014, of March 10, as currently worded
Secondary education diploma or equivalent, or, if the academic qualification does not correspond to the Portuguese secondary education, a document proving that it allows, in the country where it was obtained, access to higher education
Minimum English language requirement: IELTS score of 6.0 or a TOEFL iBT score of 78 or above.
An estimated requirement is A-levels with grades around BBB to BBC including Biology and/or Chemistry/Mathematics or equivalent science subjects, based on typical European biology degree entry levels.
Applicants must also demonstrate eligibility through Portuguese national entrance exam subjects (or equivalent recognized international qualifications), especially Biology & Geology or related science combinations depending on the chosen admission track.
