Program Overview

The Department of Cultural Anthropology, Yonsei University, was established in 2008 to deeply study the cultural phenomena that occur across the region, nation and the world in this period of change and actively intervene in the actual culture. The Department of Cultural Anthropology at Yonsei University first teaches the basics of cultural anthropology that studies culture as a holistic life style through the view of cultural relativism and comparative culture. Also, it teaches methodology that can deeply analyze culture by entering various cultural field. Furthermore, it develops creativity to plan new culture and application ability to intervene in the problems of reality such as medical care, health, poverty, development, urban regeneration, migration, and refugees. To do this, students conduct field surveys and internships at home and abroad, and provide training bases for becoming cultural analysts and planners.
