Program Overview

Sociology is a discipline that seeks to understand the ways in which individuals with diverse characteristics live in a collective society and find alternatives to a better society. Therefore, sociology is the most basic science in humanities and social sciences and has a close relationship with neighboring sciences. The various theories and methodologies presented in sociology are not only applied to other humanities and social sciences, but also the various arguments discussed in these sciences are again covered by sociology. Because of these characteristics, sociology emphasizes the theoretical approach to the society in which we live, but this theory is not separated from the reality but is constantly verified through empirical analysis and then undergoes reconstruction process accordingly. In other words, it is the academic goal of sociology to reach a more systematic understanding of society as a whole through exploring concrete and realistic problems occurring in various areas of society.
