The Department of Dance was founded in 1980 as the Department of Dance Education of Kongju National University of Education, with the aim of supporting the development of capable dancers and creators of dance arts In 1996, it was restructured into the Department of Dance in the College of Human and Social Sciences of Kongju National University The Department has significantly contributed to the activation of dance performances by hosting professors' presentations and regular performances in each major twice or three times a year, and has participated in a wide range of dance events, including national dance festivals and international dance festivals

The Department is equipped with the facilities and equipment that it needs to give classes that help students to understand the educational contents in a diverse manner The Department has enabled students to develop theoretical and practical skills and to reach their potential through its basic courses, including Korean Traditional Dance, Modern Dance, Ballet and Social Dance Through its systematic curriculum, the Department has also developed scholars in dance who are now working as educators, reviewers, experts in dance arts and dance educators The programs offered by the Department allow students to pursue further studies in dance and advance to higher educational courses
