Program Overview

Curriculum Structure

Year 1 – Building the Scientific Foundation

The first year focuses on the biomedical sciences that underpin modern dentistry. Students study subjects such as Biology, Anatomy & Histology, and Biochemistry, while developing an understanding of human body systems and the scientific principles required for future clinical training. The curriculum also introduces students to the fundamentals of health sciences and professional dental practice.

Year 2 – Understanding Oral Health and Disease

During the second year, students deepen their knowledge of oral biology and begin studying dental-specific sciences. Modules including General Pathology, Microbiology, and Dental Materials help students understand disease mechanisms, biomaterials used in dentistry, and the biological processes involved in oral health, while practical laboratory sessions develop essential technical skills.

Year 3 – Developing Clinical Skills

The third year marks the transition into clinical dentistry through simulation and supervised patient care. Students study disciplines such as Conservative Dentistry, Endodontics, and Periodontology, learning diagnostic techniques, restorative procedures, and preventive treatments while strengthening their decision-making and communication skills in clinical settings.

Year 4 – Advanced Patient Care

In the fourth year, students manage increasingly complex clinical cases under expert supervision. Subjects including Orthodontics, Paediatric Dentistry, and Oral Surgery enable students to diagnose, plan, and deliver comprehensive treatment while gaining confidence in multidisciplinary patient care using the University's modern Dental Clinic.

Year 5 – Professional Practice and Research

The final year consolidates all previous learning through intensive clinical practice and independent research. Students complete their Final Degree Project, provide comprehensive dental treatment for adult and paediatric patients, and refine the professional competencies required for independent dental practice after graduation.
