4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program
The Bachelor in Philosophy, Politics, Law and Economics (PPLE) at IE University is an interdisciplinary four-year degree that brings together key ideas from philosophy, politics, law and economics to help students understand how societies function and how major global decisions are made. It is ideal for curious and ambitious students who want to explore complex social issues, develop strong analytical thinking skills and prepare for careers that shape policy, business and international affairs.
Curriculum structure
Year 1
During the first year, students build a solid foundation across the four core disciplines while learning how they connect to real-world challenges. Courses such as Introduction to Political Science, Principles of Economics, and Introduction to Philosophy introduce students to political institutions, economic systems and fundamental philosophical ideas. At the same time, students start developing critical thinking, communication and analytical skills that will support their studies throughout the program.
Year 2
In the second year, students explore deeper theoretical perspectives and begin examining how ethical, legal and political systems interact. Subjects such as Moral Philosophy, Political Theory, and Public Law help students understand how ideas about justice, governance and legal frameworks influence decision-making in societies. This stage encourages students to analyze policy debates and evaluate social issues using multiple academic perspectives.
Year 3
The third year allows students to engage with more specialized topics and apply their knowledge to global issues. Courses such as Public Diplomacy, Geopolitics, and Poverty, Human Rights & Development focus on international relations, global governance and social development challenges. Students also gain practical experience through projects and collaborative work that connect academic learning with real-world policy and institutional environments.
Year 4
In the final year, students focus on advanced topics and develop their own academic interests through elective courses and independent research. The Final Project allows them to combine insights from philosophy, politics, law and economics to study a major societal or policy issue in depth. By the end of the program, students graduate with a broad understanding of global systems and the ability to analyze complex problems from multiple perspectives.
