Program Overview

The Bachelor’s Degree in Filmmaking at TAI School of the Arts is designed for students who want to turn their passion for cinema into professional filmmaking skills, combining creative storytelling with hands-on experience across directing, screenwriting, cinematography, production, sound and post-production. With real filming projects every year and the opportunity to specialise in an area such as Direction and Screenplay, Direction of Photography and Camera, Production and Production Design, or Image and Sound Postproduction, students learn by working in ways that closely reflect the professional film industry.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1: Students build a strong foundation in filmmaking through subjects such as History of Film I, Film Screenplay, Audiovisual Narrative, Fundamentals of Photography, Audiovisual Production and Editing I: Theory and Technology. The year also includes Projects I: Filming Fiction, giving students practical experience of creating films and working collaboratively in different production roles.

Year 2: Students deepen their creative and technical understanding through Film Creation and Mise-en-Scène, The Film Image: Technique and Aesthetics, Screenwriting Workshop for Film and Fiction Series, Editing II: Theory and Technology and Sound Technology. Through Projects II: Filming Fiction, they continue developing their ability to translate scripts and creative concepts into completed audiovisual productions.

Year 3: Students choose a specialist itinerary while continuing with Film Analysis, Projects III: Filming Fiction and Non-Fiction and Entrepreneurship and Professional Development. Depending on their chosen pathway, they can develop expertise through subjects such as Film Direction and Directing Actors, Direction of Photography I and Camera I, Production Management and Distribution and Marketing, or Composition and VFX, Sound Design and Audiovisual Editing.

Year 4: The final year focuses on advanced professional practice and career preparation, with subjects varying according to the chosen specialisation, alongside a 21-ECTS External Internship and a Final Degree Project. Students can explore areas such as Film Directing, Direction of Photography II, Executive Production, Series Creation and Production, Film Editing, 3D Animation and Music Production, allowing them to graduate with both practical industry experience and a substantial final creative project.
