BS Physics Engineering

4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Ankara University

Program Overview

Physics Engineering Department started its first education in 1954 by offering a master of engineering physics degree option to the continuing undergraduate physics students in Physics Department upon completing additional one year curriculum on top of their regular bachelor of science degree program. With a new written regulation about education and exam in 1976 both four years physics and engineering physics program options were offered in undergraduate level in the Physics Department and master of engineering physics degree program was considered as equivalent of master of science in physics. Engineering physics program was then given to the Engineering Physics Department with the new rules and regulations done in advance study charter in 1981. The Engineering Physics Department continued its education by sharing the same classrooms and research facilities with the Physics Department from 1981 to 2001. The Department then joined to the Faculty of Engineering with its establishment in 2001. Currently, the Engineering Physics students are required to take classes and lab courses in four years (eight semesters) as well as performing 45 days internship in a company in order to graduate and get a Bachelor of (Science) Engineering Physics title. After completing their undergraduate education students can continue their graduate studies by joining Master of Science program and later Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program leading Master of Engineering Physics and PhD of Engineering Physics degrees, respectively. Detailed information about the graduate programs can be obtained from Ankara University Institution of Graduate Studies in Science (AU-FBE) Department's research interests mainly focus on high energy, solid state, health and mathematical physics.
