Program Overview

The Department of Urdu Language and Literature is meant for the study of Urdu language, which belongs to Indo-european family of Languages, and is the third widely spoken language of the world. This department also imparts education about the historical perspective, cultural heritage and important events that strech over a period of about one thousand years in the sub-continent Indo-pakistan, under the reign of the Turks from the Gaznavid to the Indo-Turkish dynasty, whose empire ended in 1857. In this particular department studies are carried out about the development of the Urdu Language, which derived its very name from the Turkish word "Ordu", the Urdu Literat re, its various phases from the beginning to the present day and its renowned poets and writers as well.
