The Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences at Gulf Medical University gives you a strong foundation in modern medical science and prepares you for careers in healthcare, laboratories, research, and biotechnology. Curriculum Structure

Year 1 – Building the Biomedical Foundation
In your first year, you are introduced to the world of biomedical science through subjects such as Human Biology, Introduction to Biomedical Science, Biostatistics, and Information Technology for Healthcare Professionals. These courses help you understand how the human body works and how science, data, and healthcare are connected.

Year 2 – Understanding Cells, Molecules, and Disease
During the second year, you move into the core scientific disciplines of medicine. You study Biochemistry, Cell Biology and Histology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, and Human Anatomy and Physiology, learning how cells, tissues, and microorganisms influence health and disease.

Year 3 – Applying Biomedical Knowledge
In the third year, your studies become more applied and research-focused. Courses such as Human Genetics, Epidemiology, Biochemistry II, and Human Anatomy and Physiology II help you understand inherited diseases, population health, and advanced biological processes. You also begin working on scientific investigations and laboratory-based learning.

Year 4 – Research and Professional Practice
Your final year is dedicated to hands-on experience and professional development. You complete a research project and take part in clinical laboratory training within professional medical and diagnostic labs, preparing you for real-world biomedical and healthcare roles.

Additional Information & Requirements

Completion of 128 credits (inclusive of research project and clinical laboratory training credits) Attainment of a minimum CGPA of 2.0 Achievement of a minimum pass mark of 65% (Grade D+) for each course
Applicants graduating from non-UAE school systems must obtain a High School Equivalency Certificate from the UAE Ministry of Education.
Applicants from UAE educational systems (all tracks) must have secured a minimum aggregate score of 70% in Grade 12.
Applicants from non-UAE educational systems must have secured a minimum aggregate score equivalent to UAE 70% as per the International Grade Conversion Table published by World Education Services (WES).
IB - Student should have secured an overall minimum 28 points.
IELTS - Overall score of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component
TOEFL - 79 (including reading 18, listening 17, speaking 20, and writing 21)
After the admission test, applicants will complete a written situational assessment comprising six short-answer questions (75–100 words each) based on real-life healthcare scenarios.
Multiple Mini Interview (MMI): Writing (50 – 150 words) / 6 questions
MMI - These are case scenarios where the cases are presented and applicant is required to write short answers and the applicant is evaluated on the skills and approach on Communication, Professionalism, Ethical issues, Critical thinking, Cultural diversity and insight knowledge of the healthcare system.

Additional supporting documents - Attested copies of Grade 10, 11, and 12 transcripts, For international curricula, an Equivalency Certificate from the UAE Ministry of Education is required, International students must register for a non-credit Basic Arabic Language course, All applicants must pass the GMU Admission Entrance Exam, which includes: Mathematics (mandatory) Biology Chemistry or Physics, Valid passport copy, Emirates ID for UAE residents, Fifteen recent passport-size color photographs with a white background, Medical Fitness Certificate from Thumbay Hospital, Medical Insurance Certificate (for UAE residents).
