Program Overview

The course teaches participants how to select and purchase luxury fashion products for different types of retailers, including high street brands, boutiques, independent fashion labels, and e-commerce retail outlets. The curriculum covers various business models, such as innovation, new media, and technology, that are relevant to the global buying process. In addition, the course explores important topics such as trends, stock mix, buying calendars, range planning, pricing strategies, profitability, negotiation techniques, pricing issues, merchandising, budgets, JIT ordering, distribution channels, and supplier lead times.

Buyers need to be both creative and business-minded, possessing strong merchandising and analytical skills to successfully manage the supply chain. Predicting sales and customer demand is crucial to the success of a fashion company, and buyers learn how to anticipate trends through careful analysis of fashion weeks, research, investigation of target audiences, and evaluation of current issues in the industry, including sustainability and new media influences. Participants also learn how to make detailed analyses of past sales records to predict future sales and explore the technical and theoretical aspects of a buying campaign and the impact of merchandising and visual display on sales.

The course provides hands-on learning opportunities working on buying campaigns and collaborating with international companies on industry projects and case studies.
