Program Overview

Ideal for those with a passion for visual storytelling, this program blends artistic expression, technical skill, and theoretical insight to help students develop their own photographic voice across contemporary, documentary, and fine art contexts.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1
Students begin by building a strong foundation in both digital and analogue photography, gaining hands-on experience in camera operation, studio lighting, and darkroom techniques. Core modules such as Photography: Practice and Process and Photography: Histories and Theories introduce key photographic concepts and critical approaches, encouraging students to experiment and develop their technical and conceptual skills.

Year 2
The second year deepens creative exploration through modules like Photography and the Expanded Field and Visual Research Methods, where students push the boundaries of traditional image-making. They also begin to define their artistic direction through personal projects, workshops, and collaborations, while refining their visual language and understanding of professional photographic practice.

Year 3
In the final year, students focus on developing a substantial self-directed body of work through the Major Project and Professional Practice modules. This stage culminates in a public degree show where students showcase their portfolios to industry professionals, galleries, and the public, preparing them for diverse roles in the creative industries or further postgraduate study.
