BA (Hons) Interior Design

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Regents University London

Program Overview

The BA (Hons) Interior Design at Regent's University London prepares students to create innovative, functional, and sustainable interior spaces that enhance the way people live, work, and interact. Combining creative design thinking with technical expertise, the programme develops skills in spatial design, visual communication, digital representation, materials, and professional practice while preparing graduates for careers across residential, commercial, retail, hospitality, exhibition, and workplace design.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1

Students establish a strong foundation in interior design through modules including Design: Spatial Investigations, Reading Spaces, Design: Inhabitation, and Representing Spaces. They explore design thinking, spatial analysis, creative research, drawing, model making, and digital representation while learning how to develop interior design concepts that respond to real users, sites, and communities. The year also includes Learning Perspectives, helping students develop critical thinking and collaborative learning skills.

Year 2

The second year focuses on applying creative and technical knowledge to increasingly complex design projects through modules such as Design: Events, Narrative Spaces, and Design: Adaptation. Students investigate commercial, retail, leisure, and workplace environments while developing expertise in adaptive reuse, sustainable design, storytelling, materials, construction, ergonomics, lighting, and professional communication. They can also undertake an Industry Challenge, Placement, or choose specialist elective modules to broaden their experience.

Year 3

In the final year, students complete an independent design project through Major Project I, Major Project II, Design: Exploration, and Design: Realisation. They develop a comprehensive interior design proposal from concept through technical resolution, refining advanced digital modelling, fabrication, presentation, and professional portfolio skills while demonstrating their individual design philosophy and readiness for professional practice.
