BA (Hons) Dance Education and Teaching

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of Chichester

Program Overview

During your initial year, you will establish a strong basis in dance by participating in daily dance classes. Additionally, you will delve into various aspects of dance theory and contexts, such as dance history, psychology applied to dance, movement studies, genre and style, and choreography.

Moving on to the second year, the emphasis will be on teaching strategies. This will be accomplished through a combination of core modules that encompass safe dance practices, as well as an exploration of culture and community in relation to dance.

In the second year, there are also optional modules available that offer opportunities for performance and creativity. These modules cover repertory, choreography, and industry placements.

As you progress to your third year, your understanding of the dance field will expand through a selection of optional modules. These modules encompass choreography, teaching dance technique, dance movement psychotherapy, creative practice, and an applied dance placement. The applied dance placement allows you to explore roles in areas such as administration, technical theatre, or community dance practice.
