Program Overview

The BA (Hons) Business & Management at Bournemouth University provides a flexible, professionally accredited, and internationally focused business education. With over 35 years of expertise, the AACSB-accredited BU Business School offers students a choice of specialist pathways—including Marketing, Finance, and Economics—selected during or before the second year depending on the stream. The curriculum is designed to balance theory and real-world practice through live business projects, international exchange options, and a highly recommended 30-week placement year.

  • Students also gain dual awards, earning a CMI Level 5 Certificate in Management and Leadership upon graduation. BU is also affiliated with leading professional bodies like CIM, ACCA, IDM, and ICAEW, providing qualification exemptions and membership benefits.

Course overview

  • Year 1–2: Developing Management Competencies, Global Business Environment, Introduction to Accounting, Recruiting, Selecting & Retaining Talent, Strategic Management

  • Specialisation: Pathway selection at end of Year 2 (earlier for Economics/Finance)

  • Optional Placement Year: Minimum 30-week paid or unpaid placement in the UK or abroad

  • Final Year: Business Futures, Organisational Leadership, along with optional modules which includes an option between dissertation and consultancy project
