Program Overview

The BA (Hons) Business Management at the University of Hertfordshire equips students with the analytical, managerial, and communication skills essential for leadership roles in global business environments. Delivered at the university’s de Havilland Campus, the program integrates practical learning through placements, live business projects, and guest speakers from industry. With the option to pursue specialist pathways in Leadership or Information Systems, students gain the flexibility to tailor their studies to career goals.

  • Year 1: Accounting Aspects of Business, Analysing and Managing Business Data, Business and Markets, Introduction to Organisational Behaviour

  • Year 2: Digital Marketing in Practice, Organisational Psychology, Managing People, Management Accounting for Business Decisions, Mobile Business Technologies

  • Year 3: Optional modules which include, International Human Resource Management, Creative Problem Solving for Managers, Strategic HRM Perspectives, Financial Aspects of International Business, Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Creativity, Advanced Project and Risk Management

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

Optional Sandwich Year and Work Placement
At the end of Year 2, students have the option to undertake a full year in industry through a work placement or a shorter internship—both valuable experiences that significantly enhance employability. These opportunities allow students to apply their knowledge in real-world settings, gain practical insights into how businesses operate, and build professional networks.

  • Alternatively, students may choose to complete a sandwich year abroad, studying at one of over 100 international partner institutions across 40 countries. This immersive experience offers personal and professional growth while adding international exposure to their CV—a key advantage in today’s global job market.

Students who opt to study abroad between their second and third year will not pay tuition fees to either the University of Hertfordshire or the partner institution. The dedicated Study Abroad Office provides full support to help students make the most of this opportunity.
