Program Overview

The BSc (Hons) in Business Economics and Data Analytics at Surrey is designed to equip students with the tools they need to tackle real-world business challenges through the lens of economics and data-driven decision-making.

  • This dynamic course combines economic theory with cutting-edge analytics, allowing students to hone their skills in coding, machine learning, and econometrics, all while gaining valuable insights into business and management.
  • Students have the option to take on a Professional Training placement, and they can even choose a foundation year if they want to strengthen their skills before diving into the main degree.

The program is all about building a solid grasp of economic principles, understanding business operations, and mastering data analysis to make informed decisions in today’s fast-paced digital economy.

Course Structure

  • Year 1: Develops core knowledge of how organizations operate in the modern world. You’ll explore management, marketing, economics, and the basics of business analytics, including working with business data.

  • Year 2: Focuses on digital project management, predictive analytics, and more advanced business analytics methods. You’ll also develop your skills in business modelling and data visualization.

  • Optional Placement Year: Undertake a Professional Training placement to gain real-world industry experience, enhance your CV, and explore career options.

  • Final Year: Refines your strategic management and innovation knowledge. You'll complete an individual project in business analytics, drawing on real-world data to solve a business problem.

  • Optional Foundation Year: For those needing additional preparation, a foundation year is available to strengthen skills in business, maths, and academic readiness.
