BSc Business and Management

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of Exeter

Program Overview

Exeter's BSc Business and Management is a comprehensive, future-thinking degree that covers the fundamentals of running an organisation, from accounting and finance to marketing and human resources, all viewed through a genuinely international lens. It suits both students studying business for the first time and those building on existing knowledge, with enough flexibility to either explore broadly or specialise in the areas that match your career goals.

Curriculum structure

In Year 1, students build a solid foundation across the full business landscape through modules like Introduction to Accounting, Fundamentals of Marketing, and Discovering Management Theory, giving them the grounding to understand how every part of an organisation fits together.

Year 2 deepens that knowledge with modules such as Managerial Accounting, Operations Management, and Organisational Behaviour, moving students from foundational theory into the practical realities of running and managing people and processes.

Students on the four-year route can choose an Industrial Experience placement or a Year Abroad in their third year, spending it working with a real employer or studying at one of Exeter's partner universities abroad before returning for their final year.

By the Final Year, students take on strategic-level modules like Strategy and Finance for Managers, alongside options such as Managing Change and Crisis in Organisations, sharpening the leadership and decision-making skills needed to step into management roles right after graduation.

Focus areas: Management practices, accounting and finance, marketing, human resources, and organisational strategy, with an international perspective on how businesses operate in a global environment.

Learning outcomes: Graduates leave able to understand organisations and the markets they operate in, create and evaluate business opportunities, and apply strong negotiation, communication, project management, and leadership skills, along with the cultural awareness needed to work across diverse teams and markets.

Professional alignment: Students get access to the Student Startup Incubator programme through SETsquared Exeter, part of SETsquared, the world's number one university business incubator partnership, giving would-be entrepreneurs real support in turning ideas into ventures alongside their degree.

Reputation (employability rankings): Exeter is ranked Top 10 in the UK for Business and Management, 9th in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025 and 8th in The Complete University Guide 2027, with all Business School departments ranked top 10 for graduate prospects and 90 percent of Management graduates in employment or further study within 15 months of graduating.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

Teaching combines weekly lectures with in-depth seminars and tutorials, backed by real assessment methods like group work, coursework, and project work that mirror how business actually happens on the ground. Students are based at the purpose-built University of Exeter Business School on the Streatham Campus, giving them a dedicated space to collaborate with peers and connect with industry throughout their studies.
