Program Overview

The BA (Hons) Business and Entrepreneurship with Foundation at Regent's University London is designed for aspiring entrepreneurs and future business leaders who want an additional year to build the academic, professional, and entrepreneurial skills needed for degree-level study. The integrated Foundation Year develops confidence in business fundamentals, communication, and critical thinking before students progress to specialist studies in entrepreneurship, innovation, venture creation, and business strategy, preparing them to launch, scale, and lead successful organisations.

Curriculum Structure

Foundation Year

The Foundation Year introduces students to university-level business study through modules including Business I: Enterprise in Action – Fundamentals in Context, Writing for Success at University, and Critical Thinking. Students work collaboratively to develop and operate a live business start-up, explore marketing, finance, and business planning, while strengthening academic writing, research, communication, and analytical skills needed for progression to the degree.

Year 1

Students build a strong foundation in business and entrepreneurship through modules including Learning Perspectives, Organisational Culture and Reputation, and Money, Finance and Decisions. They also study Markets and Legal Frameworks and Exploring Industry and Entrepreneurship, developing an understanding of finance, organisational behaviour, legal frameworks, business environments, and entrepreneurial opportunity recognition.

Year 2

The second year focuses on developing entrepreneurial capability through modules such as Entrepreneurial Mindset, Innovation in Action, and Scaling Ventures. Students learn how to identify commercial opportunities, validate innovative ideas, design sustainable business models, and develop venture growth strategies while applying their learning through an Industry Challenge, Enterprise Challenge, optional Placement, or Study Abroad experience.

Year 3

In the final year, students strengthen their strategic leadership and venture development skills through Disruptive Strategies and Models, Entrepreneurship in Practice, and the two-part Major Project. They explore disruptive innovation, emerging technologies, business transformation, and sustainable growth while completing an independent entrepreneurial project that reflects their professional ambitions, such as launching a new venture or solving a real business challenge.

  • Strengthen academic and professional skills through Critical Thinking, Writing for Success at University, and collaborative project work that prepares students for degree-level entrepreneurial study.
  • Complete the Entrepreneurial Challenge module, creating, validating, and pitching original business ideas while developing business models, value propositions, and venture growth strategies.
  • Participate in the Industry Challenge, working on live business briefs and consultancy-style projects where teams research markets, solve commercial problems, and present recommendations to industry professionals.
  • Undertake an optional professional placement, gaining workplace experience with start-ups, SMEs, multinational organisations, social enterprises, or consulting firms while applying entrepreneurial theory in real business environments.
  • Choose an optional Study Abroad term at one of Regent's 60+ partner universities in more than 20 countries, gaining international business experience and global entrepreneurial perspectives.
  • Work on collaborative group projects, business simulations, consultancy assignments, investor pitches, market research projects, presentations, and strategic planning exercises, developing leadership, negotiation, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Design innovative business models by applying concepts from entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, leadership, sustainability, and business strategy to real commercial opportunities.
  • Complete a self-directed Major Project, enabling students to launch a new venture, develop an innovative product or service, or solve a real business challenge aligned with their career ambitions.
