This four‑year programme includes a full-time industrial placement during your third year—allowing you to apply classroom learning in a real workplace and return to complete your final year at Exeter.

So here’s what experiential learning looks like in this programme:

  • Paid year-long industry placement (Year 3): Work full-time in a marketing or management role, with typical salaries ranging from £15,000 to £52,000. Over half of students receive graduate job offers from their placement employers.

  • Formal placement assessment: You’ll submit progress reports from your employer, write a reflective essay, and produce a business report. The placement contributes one-seventh of your final degree classification.

  • Extensive career support: Exeter’s Business School Careers Team helps you identify and secure placements, craft strong applications, develop CVs, practice interviews, and provides academic tutor support throughout.

  • Hands-on marketing and management projects: Across all years you’ll engage in live briefs, brand strategy tasks, consumer research, and business simulations to develop teamwork, analytical thinking, and commercial insight.

  • Training in digital and analytical tools: Modules include practical instruction in Excel, SPSS, CRM systems and digital analytics platforms—skills directly aligned with employer needs.

  • Choice of final-year dissertation or applied project: In your fourth year, you can pursue either an independent research dissertation or an applied marketing/management project supervised by academic staff.

  • High graduate outcomes: Around 97% of graduates on this “with Industrial Experience” pathway were in employment or further study within six months—higher than the 93.5% reported for students who did not take the placement year.

  • University support for placements: Placement tuition fees are reduced to approximately 20% of the standard rate during your placement year, and students can access student finance.

  • Triple-accredited Business School: You’ll study at Exeter Business School, which holds AMBA, AACSB, and EQUIS accreditations and is respected within the Russell Group.

  • Wide global placement network: Previous students have placed with firms like Adidas, Apple, ASOS, Bank of England, Deloitte, Disney, EY, GSK, Goldman Sachs, and PwC—often in roles offering real responsibility.
