3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Leeds Trinity University

Program Overview

This course will provide you with a comprehensive grasp of the fundamental principles of construction management. In addition to covering topics such as building design and the step-by-step construction of building components, you will also gain knowledge in efficient project management for various types of buildings, ranging from residential to large-scale structures like skyscrapers and sports facilities.

We will assist you in developing the necessary skills for effective on-site project management. This includes understanding the planning process, executing construction tasks, managing budgets, handling project expenses, and ensuring construction safety measures.

You will examine the various factors that can cause project delays and learn strategies to manage and mitigate them. This involves communicating with clients, negotiating delays, monitoring quality by improving workmanship on large-scale projects, and overseeing contracting packages.

As you progress through the course, you will delve into broader issues within the construction industry. For example, you will explore sustainability concerns related to energy-efficient design and the optimization of structural performance in buildings. Additionally, you will study law and economics as they pertain to the built environment.

The theoretical knowledge gained through lectures will be reinforced by practical experiences and activities, including field trips and site visits. These opportunities will allow you to apply what you have learned in real-world contexts.

During your final year, you will focus on the refurbishment of heritage buildings, including the regeneration of existing structures on a large scale. You will also have the opportunity to conduct your own research and write a dissertation on a topic of interest within the field of construction management.
