BSc (Hons) Marketing and Data Analytics with a Year Abroad

4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

University of East Anglia

Program Overview

This degree blends the creativity and strategic thinking of marketing with the power of data analytics, teaching you how to turn numbers into insight and insight into action. You’ll graduate equipped to bridge the gap between business goals and data-driven decisions in an ever-changing global market.

Curriculum Structure

Year 1

In your first year you’ll build a strong foundation in both marketing and quantitative skills. You’ll study core modules like Principles of Marketing, Introduction to Data Analytics, and Statistics for Business. Through those you’ll grasp customer behaviour, basic data collection, and the fundamentals of interpreting numbers in a marketing context.

Year 2

The second year deepens your analytical and marketing toolkit. You might take modules such as Digital Marketing & Social Media, Marketing Research Methods, and Predictive Analytics / Data Modelling. Here you’ll learn how to design surveys, segment markets, apply regression or classification techniques, and craft campaigns informed by data patterns.

Year 3 (Year Abroad)

In your third year you’ll spend one or both semesters at one of UEA’s international partner universities (or equivalent exchange). While abroad you’ll continue with advanced marketing and analytics topics (for example, Consumer Insights, Advanced Analytics for Marketing). This gives you global exposure, cross-cultural marketing experience, and a broader perspective on data use in different markets.

Year 4 (Final Year back at UEA)

On your return, you’ll cap off the degree with advanced, integrative learning. Modules could include Marketing Strategy & Planning, Big Data in Marketing, and a Capstone Project / Dissertation in Marketing & Analytics. You’ll bring together everything you’ve learned—formulating real marketing strategies backed by data, applying sophisticated tools, and delivering insights in a professional project setting.

Focus areas: marketing strategy, consumer insights, digital marketing analytics, predictive modelling, global marketing

Learning outcomes: You will graduate able to formulate marketing strategies grounded in rigorous data analysis; design and implement quantitative research; interpret complex datasets to guide business decisions; communicate insights effectively to varied audiences.

Professional alignment (accreditation): The program aligns with industry practice standards in marketing and analytics, preparing students to meet competencies expected by professional bodies in marketing, market research, and data science communities.

Reputation (employability rankings): UEA is well regarded across UK league tables and business education rankings, and Norwich Business School itself holds strong standing in marketing, business and management research.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

From your very first day at UEA, you’ll dive straight into working with real data, real challenges, and the same tools professionals use — not just sit through lectures and exams. This degree is designed to help you develop the exact skills employers are looking for: data analysis, digital marketing, consumer insights, and strategic thinking. Along the way, you’ll gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge software, industry-style case studies, and project work that reflects what’s happening right now in the world of marketing. Plus, with a full year abroad built into the programme, you’ll also broaden your horizons, learning how to adapt strategies for different global markets.

Here’s how experiential learning is built into this programme:

Industry-standard software & tools:
You’ll get to grips with the same analytics platforms professionals use — learning how to clean, analyse, and visualise data, and more importantly, how to turn it into insights that actually guide decisions.

Real-life case studies & projects:
Many of your assignments will mirror real marketing problems faced by organisations, so you’ll get a genuine feel for what marketing analysts and data-driven strategists do every day.

Group projects & teamwork:
Collaboration is a big part of the course. You’ll work alongside your peers to design campaigns, analyse consumer datasets, and present your findings — just like you would in a marketing team at an agency or company.

Year abroad:
Spending a full year at a partner university overseas will give you invaluable international experience. You’ll see first-hand how marketing and analytics differ across regions, and you’ll start building a global professional network.

Cross-disciplinary integration:
Because the degree blends marketing and data analytics, you’ll take modules from both areas. This means you’ll not only understand how to crunch the numbers but also how to use them to shape effective marketing strategies.

Dedicated learning resources & support:
You won’t be on your own — UEA backs you up with workshops, tutorials, and access to digital labs where you can sharpen your skills outside of class time.

Graduates from this programme typically move into roles that combine marketing insight with data-driven decision-making. Many find themselves in analytics, strategy, or digital marketing teams and are well positioned to work across sectors such as retail, technology, consultancy, or media.
