This BSc course will prepare you to be a computer game developer ready to work and succeed in this challenging and exciting industry.

Computer games development is a very technically demanding process and developers are required to possess a wide range of technical skills including computer programming, computer graphics and mathematics. In addition, they are also expected to have strong knowledge of gaming console and PC hardware architecture.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

LJMU offers students access to a dedicated gaming lab equipped with VR-ready workstations, PlayStation and Xbox development kits, VR development tools (including Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, PlayStation VR, Gear VR), Microsoft HoloLens, and a motion capture system. The program incorporates industry-standard curricula, including partnerships like PlayStation First and Unreal Academic Partner, into its teaching methodologies. Students have opportunities to engage in academic societies such as the LJMU IGDA Academic Chapter and participate in annual events like the LJMU Game Showcase and LJMU Game Jam. Additionally, the university maintains strong links with over 450 local, national, and international organizations, facilitating opportunities for paid industrial placements with companies such as Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE), Lucid Games, Atomicom, Damibu, Setgo Games, Fish in a Bottle, and TribePlay in China.
