The physical education and teacher training program at Brighton has garnered a strong reputation and is held in high regard, with a rich history of excellence spanning over a century. In our most recent inspection, we received an Outstanding rating from Ofsted.
By pursuing this degree, you will attain Qualified Teacher Status for teaching students in the 11-16 age range, and you will also have opportunities to teach students aged 16-18, providing valuable enrichment experiences.
Upon graduation, you will possess comprehensive experience and knowledge necessary to teach the National Curriculum for Physical Education (NCPE). Additionally, we offer various qualifications and extracurricular activities that you can engage in during your course, further enhancing your skills and providing you with a well-rounded education.
For admission to the program, the following qualifications and grades are required: A-levels or BTEC: The entry requirements range from A-level BBB to BCC (equivalent to 120-104 UCAS Tariff points). Alternatively, if you hold a BTEC Extended Diploma, the requirements range from DDM to DMM. If your predicted grades fall within this range, you will be considered, but the final offer will be based on an assessment conducted during the interview. International Baccalaureate: A minimum of 30 points in the International Baccalaureate, including three subjects at the Higher level. Access to HE Diploma: Successful completion of the Access to HE Diploma with an overall pass. At least 45 credits should be at level 3, including 24 credits at distinction and 21 credits at merit. T-level: Merit grade in the Education and Early Years T-level. Other T-level subjects are not accepted for admission. GCSE (minimum grade C or grade 4): You must have at least five GCSEs, including English language and mathematics, with a minimum grade of C or 4. English language requirements: A minimum overall IELTS score of 6.0 is required, with no score below 5.5 in each individual element.
