Curriculum Structure
Year 1:
You’ll start with foundational engineering modules including Electrical Engineering Principles, Electronic Engineering Principles, Engineering Mathematics, Project Skills, Design Project, and Mechanical Engineering Principles—delivering essential theory, design exposure, and core engineering practice.
Year 2:
Focus shifts toward deeper technical applications with modules such as Analogue Electronics, Digital Electronics, Power Engineering, Control Engineering, and Modelling & Simulation, forming the backbone of practical electronic systems understanding and preparing you for professional practice. A group design project led by external industry experts reinforces multidisciplinary teamwork.
Year 3:
The final year delves into advanced topics: Advanced Digital Electronics, Advanced Analogue Electronics, Communications & Networks, Advanced Power & Control, Business & Operations Management, and an Individual Project enabling in-depth exploration of a topic aligned with employer needs or research interests.
Optional Placement Year:

Industry-level labs in the new Dalton Building: Learn in a dedicated Electrical and Electronic Engineering laboratory featuring 50 individual workstations with full audio-visual support—offerings that create immersive, active learning sessions.
Cyber-Physical and robotics-enabled workshops: Practice real-time automation and smart manufacturing using a FESTO Cyber-Physical Systems demonstrator, collaborative robots (Cobots), Franka Emika Panda robot, IoT tools, industry-grade software, and an Autodesk robot.
Light manufacturing and PCB fabrication facilities: Design and prototype in our light manufacturing workshop. You can create models and prototypes and even design and produce printed circuit boards (single or double-sided), all with hands-on fabrication on site.
Mechanical and machining support spaces: Sharpen your mechanical understanding using materials testing rigs, dynamics/fluid-dynamics tools, plus machining and five-axis equipment for advanced fabrication techniques.
