This course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to be at the forefront of these exciting developments and is delivered in partnership with WMG (Warwick Manufacturing Group), renowned worldwide for its innovative links between academia and industry.
All Engineering students at Warwick develop an in-depth understanding of the classical principles of Engineering by following a general engineering programme for the first year. You can then specialise in Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering, where you will learn and develop state-of-the-art techniques and methodologies that graduates find directly applicable in industry.
You may choose to take an intercalated year in industry, research or study abroadLink opens in a new window between years two and three (BEng and MEng) or between years three and four (MEng only). If you choose to take an intercalated year this will be reflected in your degree title and add a year to your degree programme.
1. Industrial Placements and Internships
Students have the opportunity to undertake year-long or summer internships, as well as research opportunities. These experiences often lead to further study and employment. The university's Placements and Internships Officer assists students in identifying suitable opportunities. Options to take an intercalated year in industry, research, or study abroad are available and are reflected in the degree title.
2. Project-Based Learning
Throughout the course, students engage in various projects that enhance practical skills and theoretical understanding. These include individual and group projects, such as reverse engineering engines and programming industrial robots, providing hands-on experience in real-world engineering challenges.
3. Research Opportunities
Students can participate in research projects across different laboratories, working on topics aligned with current engineering challenges. This exposure to research methodologies and cutting-edge technologies prepares students for potential postgraduate studies or research-oriented careers.
4. Global Experiences
The program offers options for intercalated years abroad, allowing students to gain international experience through study or research placements. These global opportunities broaden students' perspectives and enhance their adaptability in diverse engineering environments.
Career Opportunities:
Graduates typically find employment in advanced industries such as aerospace, automotive, consumer goods, electronics, and pharmaceuticals, as well as traditional light- and heavy-engineering sectors. Employers include Arup, Airbus Defence and Space, Aston Martin, Atkins, Babcock International Group, BAE Systems, Delphi Technologies, Deutsche Bank, Facebook, GE, IBM, Network Rail, NHS, Ricardo, Samsung Electronics, Tata Technologies, and Vodafone.
In addition to engineering roles, graduates have pursued careers as actuaries, economists, statisticians, business professionals, estimators, valuers, assessors, finance and investment analysts, advisers, production managers, directors in manufacturing, programmers, and software development professionals.
Further Study and Professional Development:
Many graduates opt for further study, enrolling in master's programs (MSc) or pursuing doctoral research (PhD). The program's accreditation by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), and the Institute of Measurement and Control (InstMC) supports progression toward Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.

The University of Warwick provides dedicated career support through a professionally qualified Senior Careers Consultant, offering impartial advice, workshops, and events throughout the year. Events include "Options in Engineering," "Meet an Engineer," the "Engineering, Science and Technology Fair," and sessions on considering a PhD in STEM subjects.
A Level - A Level Standard Offer: AAA to include Mathematics and Physics. Applicants with a strong profile who are studying one from A level Physics or A level Mathematics may be considered. A level Contextual Offer: We welcome applications from candidates who meet the contextual eligibility criteria and whose predicted grades are close to, or slightly below, the contextual offer level. The typical contextual offer is AAB including Mathematics and Physics.IB - IB Standard Offer: 36 to include 6, 6 in Mathematics and Physics - at least one of these subjects should be at Higher Level. IB Contextual Offer: We welcome applications from candidates who meet the contextual eligibility criteria and whose predicted grades are close to, or slightly below, the contextual offer level. The typical contextual offer is 34 including 5, 5 in Higher Level Mathematics and Physics - one of these subjects at Standard Level may also be considered.IELTS - All applicants, regardless of their visa requirements, are required to show that their ability to understand and express themselves in both written and spoken English is sufficiently high for them to derive full benefit from their degree course. The level of competence required depends on what type of degree you wish to study. Many applicants can demonstrate this through a satisfactory level of achievement in, for example, GCSE English Language or the English courses within the International Baccalaureate. Applicants whose academic qualifications meet the University’s admissions requirements, but whose English language qualifications are not accepted as equivalent, may be offered a place at Warwick conditional on an acceptable English language qualification being achieved before they join the University. A number of English language tests are accepted; some of the most frequently offered ones are detailed below. Please note that certain English tests (including IELTS and PTE) must be taken within two years and one month prior to the start of your course at Warwick.
