Where language comes from and how people use it is one of the big debates of our time. This subject looks at how the English language works, how we use it to communicate, how we acquire it in the first place, and how it varies according to social factors.Creative writing involves the study and practice of imaginative writing - novels, plays, short stories, poetry. It allows you to gain a repertoire of practical skills involved in the devising, writing, design, editing of written work, leading to a sustained piece of independent work in your final year. It allows you to work collaboratively with others.
