English Language and Chinese Studies BA Hons

This degree in English Language with Chinese combines the study of the history and structure of language alongside the study of Chinese language and culture. In your first year you will gain an understanding of the English language - how it has evolved, how to describe it, how it functions and how it varies in our core English Language module. You will also study the core Chinese module which is designed for beginners with little or no prior knowledge of Chinese Language or culture. For your final first year module you can choose to complement your studies with a Linguistics module or from a wide range of options from across the University. For your second year you will study English Grammar and English Phonetics alongside further Chinese Language modules. These modules will build on the intensive language introduction given in your first year through further language tuition and understanding of the structure of Chinese.
