BA Honors Journalism with English Literature

The Journalism combined honours programme at Buckingham is based around the notion of total journalism the belief that an effective journalist should be confident and proficient in the skills needed to produce compelling stories in any medium, whether online, in print, on air or on mobile. Equally important is the ability to engage in the media employment market either working for an organisation or as an independent. We firmly believe there is no such thing as an unemployed journalist. The English Literature minor offers an understanding of contemporary literary and cultural theory while never losing sight of the values of liberal education. Students read widely and through a combination of period study and thematic study achieve an informed understanding of the discipline with reference to the critical debates that animate it.
