You will develop skills in analyzing language and investigate the characteristics of linguistic communication. In your second and final years, you will have the opportunity to choose specialized modules that delve deeper into specific areas of linguistics.

The entry requirements for this program range from A-level BBB–BCC (equivalent to 120–104 UCAS Tariff points) or BTEC Extended Diploma DMM–MMM. Conditional offers typically fall within this range. If you are taking A-levels, it is required to have at least one of the following subjects: English literature, English language, English language and literature, sociology, or psychology. For International Baccalaureate applicants, a minimum of 26 points is necessary, with three subjects at the Higher level. For Access to HE Diploma applicants, a pass with 60 credits overall is required, preferably in humanities, history, or politics courses. At least 45 credits should be at level 3. If you hold a Foundation degree or HND, it may allow you to enter the course in the second year. If you have studied similar subjects before or possess relevant experience, your qualification, higher education credits, or experience may be considered toward your course at Brighton. This could exempt you from certain course components or enable you to start in the second or third year. Regarding English language proficiency, an overall IELTS score of 6.5 is required, with a minimum of 6.0 in writing and a minimum of 5.5 in the other elements.
