Curriculum Structure

Year 1
You begin by building a strong foundation in environmental health and public protection. Modules such as Introduction to Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Public Health Principles and Biology for Environmental Health help you understand how environmental factors influence human health and wellbeing. You also start developing professional skills used by environmental health practitioners.

Year 2
In second year, your learning becomes more applied and regulatory-focused. You study areas such as Food Safety and Hygiene, Environmental Protection, Health and Safety Management and Housing and Public Health, learning how laws, inspections and risk assessments are used to protect the public in real-world settings.

Year 3
This year focuses on professional practice and real-world experience. You complete a supervised work placement with an environmental health organisation, such as a local authority or regulatory body, where you gain hands-on experience in inspections, enforcement and public health protection.

Year 4
In your final year, you bring everything together through advanced modules like Applied Environmental Health Practice, Public Health Law and a Final Year Project, where you investigate a real environmental or public health issue. This year prepares you for professional practice and leadership within the field.
