If you ve never studied the language before, this degree will allow you to learn the language from scratch while gaining an insight into Islamic thought, Arabic culture and Middle Eastern history. A combination of core and optional modules will give you a firm grounding in the language and Arab and Islamic history while you study the topics that suit your interests.If you have A-level Russian or equivalent, this degree will improve and refine your language skills, and introduce you to various aspects of Russian culture, history and politics. A combination of core and optional modules will give you a firm grounding in the Russian language and you'll be able to choose from a wide range of optional modules exploring topics that suit your interests in Russian history, culture and society. You ll also spend a year studying in Russia to develop your spoken and written Russian. But you ll also choose from optional modules to explore topics from Dostoevsky to the language of the media.
