4 Years On Campus Bachelors Program
If you’re curious about how societies work — how decisions are made, what drives economies, and why people think the way they do — this course is for you. The BA (Hons) Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Manchester Met brings together three powerful fields that shape our world, helping you become a sharper thinker, confident communicator, and globally aware problem-solver.
Curriculum Structure
Year 1 – Building Your Foundations
Your first year is all about discovering how these three disciplines connect. You’ll explore modules like A Critical Introduction to the History of Philosophy, The Making of Modern Britain: Political Culture and Society, and Measuring Inequality. These courses introduce you to political systems, ethical thinking, and basic economic analysis — giving you a solid foundation to build on.
Year 2 – Exploring Connections and Real-World Relevance
In the second year, you’ll go deeper into how philosophy, politics, and economics shape global events and everyday decisions. You might study topics such as Global Political Economy, Applied Ethics, and Economic Policy and Analysis. This is where theory starts meeting real life — from debating moral dilemmas to interpreting economic data and analysing government decisions.
Year 3 – Study Abroad Experience
Your third year is your chance to take what you’ve learned into a global context. You’ll study at one of Manchester Met’s international partner universities, gaining new perspectives on culture, governance, and economics while building an international network.
Year 4 – Bringing It All Together
In your final year, you’ll combine everything you’ve learned in a major research project or dissertation. You’ll also choose advanced modules that match your interests — perhaps in Public Policy Analysis, Philosophy of Mind, or Development Economics — and graduate ready to tackle complex social, political, and economic issues with confidence.
