Program Overview

The BA (Hons) Event Management degree program equips students with a good understanding of event planning and delivery, involving various aspects such as project management, logistics, marketing, financial planning, and stakeholder coordination.

Students are involved in live event projects from the initial stages, applying theoretical concepts to real-life settings, thereby polishing their organizational and communication skills.

The program also emphasizes the development of business acumen, which allows the student to embrace complex roles in the events sector.

Year 1 (Level 4)

  • Core Modules: Introduction to Event Management, Marketing Principles, Study and Research Skills for the Event Industry, Creativity, Technology & Innovation, Media Design for Event Management, Data Analysis for Tourism & Event Management.

  • Focus: Establishing a core knowledge of the event industry, marketing principles, and the integration of technology and creativity in event planning.

Year 2 (Level 5)

  • Core Modules: Event Project Management, Event Marketing Communications, Sustainable Event Management, Financial Management for Events, Risk Management in Events, Event Law and Ethics.

  • Emphasis: Expanding on basic knowledge, students continue to explore the intricacies of event management with a focus on sustainability, finance, and law.

Year 3 (Level 6)

  • Core Modules: Strategic Business Management for Tourism and Events, Policy, Politics and Events, Dissertation or Live Event Project, Language or Sporting Events and Sports Tourism.

  • Focus: Bringing together knowledge and skills acquired to address strategic challenges in the events industry, with possible specialization in areas such as sports tourism or language events.

Accreditation and Recognition

  • The BA (Hons) Event Management degree is approved by the Tourism Management Institute (TMI) and is one of the Association of British Travel Agents' (ABTA) core partners.

  • These affiliations indicate the quality of the program in sustaining its academic integrity and keeping pace with industry demands.

 

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

  • Live Event Projects: Students collaborate on real events, gaining hands-on experience in event planning and producing events.

  • Work Placements: 12-month work placement or study abroad scholarships, allowing students to practice their learning in diverse settings.
