Program Overview

Bournemouth University offers the BA (Hons) International Tourism and Hospitality Management, a degree specifically designed for students who wish to establish a career within one of the world's most vibrant and rapidly expanding industries. The course takes place over three years:

  • Year 1: You will be getting to know the heart of tourism and hospitality management, learning about the primary concepts of business practice, marketing, and the global tourism environment.   • Year 3: The final year focuses on strategy, leadership, and more advanced issues in tourism and hospitality. Students undertake a final project or dissertation, applying research skills to address a real issue facing the industry. This year is intended to prepare you for senior-level responsibilities in your career.

Curriculum Structure:
The course combines academic study with application, so graduates possess knowledge and practical skills. Some of the key components are:

  • Core Modules in Tourism and Hospitality: Such as global tourism management, event and hospitality operations, sustainable practices, and consumer behavior.

  • Business and Management Skills: Marketing, human resource management, finance, and entrepreneurship modules to improve career opportunities.

  • Research and Dissertation: A third-year research project that allows the students to explore a specific area of interest in depth.

  • Optional Placement Year: The vast majority of students take an optional year-long placement between their second and last year, gaining professional industry experience.

The degree is accredited by leading professional bodies, including the Institute of Travel and Tourism (ITT) and the Council for Hospitality Management Education (CHME), to verify that it fulfills industry standards and professional expectations.
