BSc Media and Communications

3 Years On Campus Bachelors Program

Keele University

Program Overview

At Keele University, the BA (Hons) in Digital Media and Music Production blends the worlds of digital content and audio artistry in a way that’s both creative and deeply practical. You’ll explore the theoretical foundations shaping digital media and sound, while also building hands-on skills—from mixing and recording to social-media storytelling—using professional studios and industry-standard equipment.

Curriculum Structure
This three-year single-honours course can be lengthened to four years by including a work placement or an international year.
You'll be learning a precisely balanced structure:

Critical theory, examining the effect of digital media on society and culture
Technical practice, producing engaging audio and digital content
• A vocational pathway, helping you hone your skills, build creative work, and establish your producer persona
Optional modules allow you to tailor your pathway—specializing in areas like sound design, social media, remixing, climate media, or even a US summer school experience.

Accreditation and Recognition
The program is regulated by OfS and has its roots within the UK assurance quality frameworks.
The general strengths of Keele—like being consistently Top 10 in England for student satisfaction on NSS for Film & Media and possessing a TEF Gold award—illustrate the university's dedication to top-notch teaching and learning.

Campus and Facilities
Situated on a vast country campus of more than 600 acres in Staffordshire, Keele boasts elegant architecture, lakes, and woodlands alongside modern facilities. The Media Building provides the creative hub of the course — well-equipped spaces for film, sound, and image production, together with an Apple MacBook loan scheme to ensure your technology stays up to date.

Experiential Learning (Research, Projects, Internships etc.)

You will participate in experiential learning, not only through lectures, but also through:

Studio time for hands-on recording, mixing, mastering, and live sound environments
• Guest industry professional-led real-world briefs, simulations, and case studies
• Growing network of innovation and media partners through creative industries as a result of Keele's media and innovation links
